Walcott Village Hall has been supported through the Community Champions scheme on numerous occasions, most notably in 2013. Their efforts are gratefully received by their local community who use the hall for a range of different events and celebrations.

John submitted the original Community Champions application back in 2013 which saw them benefit from £997.85 for the village hall. Kevin recently submitted an application for the most recent winter quarter. Notably, the village hall also received financial support through the scheme, they received £515 in 2017, and £969.35 in 2022/2023.

The village hall serves as a gathering place for various local clubs and groups, such as Zumba, tap dance, line dance, my barre fitness, and indoor bowling. Additionally, it hosts monthly "churches lunches" attended by 30-50 people, as well as quiz nights organised by the church coffee morning. The local school also frequently utilises the hall for P.E lessons. This beloved village hall acts as the heart of the community, cherished and frequented by numerous individuals. Kevin mentioned that 85% of the users are local residents, while others come from neighbouring villages, including a growing number of families compared to previous generations.

Over the years, the funds raised through the Community Champions initiative have contributed to various improvements within the village hall. These enhancements encompass new windows and heaters, Wi-Fi installation to facilitate music and internet usage by groups, removal of trees to brighten the hall, refurbishment of the kitchen, and repainting of the entire facility. Many of these endeavours were accomplished by dedicated volunteers from the local community, including John and Kevin themselves.

John, having passed on his responsibilities to Kevin, expressed his ongoing delight in returning to the hall, attending events, and occasionally volunteering. John and his wife even participated in decorating and installing carpets.

The village hall has hosted celebratory events for occasions such as the Jubilee and Coronation. These festivities included an outdoor day event and an entertaining indoor disco at night, both drawing a substantial turnout of local families. A local dance group, which regularly convenes at the hall, even showcased their talents during these gatherings. This village hall stands as one of many in the county that foster unity among people and provide valuable services to local groups and clubs.
