How can I tell if an email is genuinely from Lincolnshire Co-op?
Scam emails, also known as 'phishing' or 'spoof' emails, attempt to trick you into revealing personal or financial information such as bank account details, credit card details and passwords etc. These emails may link to fake (spoof) websites where your information can be collected if you enter it.
You’ll know that an email is from Lincolnshire Co-op if:
Emails received are sent from memberupdates@lincolnshirecoop.com and display names including
- Lincolnshire Co-op
- Lincolnshire Co-op membership newsletter
- Lincolnshire Co-op travel newsletter
We’ll never ask for financial and other personal information including your bank account number, debit or credit card number or your online account password in an email.
Links within our email will generally take you to our main website https://www.lincolnshire.coop/ but may include links to approved secure websites including:
- https://www.yoursay.coop/
Here are some security tips to help you stay protected online:
- You can click on the sender display name to confirm that it has come from our email address - memberupdates@lincolnshirecoop.com
- Even if a URL contains the name 'Lincolnshire Co-op', it may not be our webpage.
- When using our website, always ensure that the URL address listed at the top of the browser displays as https://www.lincolnshire.coop/. The 's' in ‘https’ means the website is secure.
- Look for the 'lock' symbol that appears in the address bar. This symbol indicates that the site you're visiting is secure.
If you suspect you’ve received an email relating to Lincolnshire Co-op that you believe to be fraudulent, including any of the points above, we suggest that you do not click on any of the links within the email and delete it immediately. You can also contact our Membership team on 01522 781 135 (Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5pm) to check if the email has been sent from us.
