Celebrating our 300,000th member
We're celebrating signing up our 300,000th member by dishing out dividend to 301 lucky winners.
David Todd (25) was the 300,000th person to sign up, and has been given an incredible £300 worth of dividend, which he can spend in any business area – ranging from food stores and petrol stations to travel branches and a florist.
The society held also held a celebration at Mr Todd’s local outlet, Tattershall Food Store.
Members and customers enjoyed games and fun, and colleagues and Director James Scott were there to offer congratulations to David.
David Todd said: “My mum and my girlfriend had been telling me to sign up to become a member for some time, but I kept putting it off – and now I’ve won £300!
“I do a lot of food shopping at Tattershall Food Store so I’ve already seen the benefits of being a member, and have been building up my dividend as I shop.”
The other 300 members to benefit from dividend pay outs were randomly selected, receiving £30 dividend onto their cards on Friday 4th February.
As a co-operative, the business is democratically owned and controlled by its members.
Reaching this milestone demonstrates how far the society has come over the years - it was first founded in Lincoln just over 160 years ago, and by the end of the first ever quarter there were 74 members.
Member Engagement Manager, Richard Whittaker, said: “If you’re one of our existing members, be sure to check your dividend – you might be one of our lucky winners!
“And if you haven't become a member, why not consider signing up? Those that sign up can collect dividend as they shop, access a range of member benefits, vote for who sits on our Board of Directors and have your say at our Annual Members' Meetings.”
