Lincolnshire Co-op is supporting the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) Myanmar Humanitarian Appeal by donating £10,000.

This appeal has launched to help millions of people across Myanmar in Asia, following a powerful 7.7 magnitude earthquake.

The society is also promoting the appeal so people can make a personal donation if they wish.

To donate £10, you can text COOP to 70727. Texts to this number will cost £10 plus your standard network charge. You can also donate online at DEC Myanmar Earthquake Appeal | Disasters Emergency Committee

Donations will help millions of people access lifesaving and life sustaining critical aid including food, water, shelter and medical aid.

£10 could provide urgently needed water to ten families for a day, £50 could provide emergency food for a family for one month and £100 could provide essential hygiene supplies for 10 families for 3 months.

Lincolnshire Co-op’s Chief Purpose and Proposition Officer Laura Dunne said: “We’ve made this donation to help people affected by the earthquake in collaboration with the wider co-operative movement.

“The funds will provide critical support and lifesaving aid, and we are also sharing the DEC appeal details with our members and customers to donate if they wish.”
