Eco-friendly Easter eggs

We're egg-cited to announce that the packaging for our own brand Easter Eggs is now plastic-free, as part of our commitment to reducing plastic use in our products.

All of our own brand hollow Fairtrade Easter eggs no longer have plastic inner packaging and windows, which will save tonnes of unnecessary plastic.

This means our customers can choose from the delicious range at our foods including Valencia Orange Crunch Easter egg, Hand Finished Golden Praline Easter egg and more, without worrying about plastic waste!

Our Co-op buying group has also reduced its reliance on virgin or ‘new’ plastic and now uses almost 40% recycled content in own-brand packaging. Last year Co-op became the first retailer to switch all of its 500ml, 750ml, one litre and two litre own-brand water, carbonated drinks and mixers to bottles made out of 100% recycled material, meaning they are fully recycled and recyclable – this move alone saved 1,400 tonnes of virgin plastic from being produced each year.
