Final work of the Cornhill Quarter development starts
Lincolnshire Co-op’s regeneration of the Cornhill Quarter is in its final stages, with the Cornhill Gateway now under construction.
The project, which has a total value of £3.2 million, currently has a predicted completion date of late spring 2025.
This development involves the creation of a new building on the corner of St Mary’s Street and Sincil Street, to be used as office space by train operating firm East Midlands Railway.
There will also be a living green wall, introducing more planting to the Cornhill area, made up of a climber, herbaceous and hedge planting.
With the Cornhill Quarter already having undergone vast redevelopment recently, the Gateway has been designed to be a welcoming entrance to the collection of new shops, restaurants, and leisure facilities.
Zenith Development Group, a Hull-based construction company, were announced by Lincolnshire Co-op as the principal contractor for the project.
Lincolnshire Co-op’s Development and Acquisition Manager Sam Heathershaw said: “We’re really excited to further enhance Lincoln’s city centre, creating new business opportunities and creating functional space for a large local employer.
“Our regeneration of the vibrant Cornhill Quarter is something we’re proud of, and it’s fantastic to see the final piece of the puzzle falling into place.”
