Making a difference
Our committed colleagues recently gave up their time to maintain the grounds of the Co-op Wood, a site that can be found within Ashing Lane Nature Reserve in Dunholme.
The Co-op Wood was first developed in celebration of our 150th birthday back in 2011 and is maintained by Nettleham Woodland Trust.
Trees were planted and a pond was created. Not only does this site serve as a great home for an abundance of local wildlife, it's a lovely place to go for a walk.
To ensure that the local community can continue to enjoy the site, our colleagues worked tirelessly cutting back trees and scrubbing and treating the benches.
A few familiar faces popped up, as several of the day's volunteers had helped out during the original development of the site.
The site is managed by Nettleham Woodland Trust, and Chairman Chris Williams was there on the day to offer guidance and lend a helping hand to colleagues.
Chris said: "Through the last two years, i.e. the pandemic period, it has been extraordinary how many people have discovered the area.
"We think we've contributed a lot towards well-being for a lot of people in what was a very difficult period."
