New food store opens in Barnetby
Shoppers in Barnetby will be able to enjoy a new variety of services, as a £1.5m food store opens its doors to the public for the first time.
Located on Victoria Road, our colleagues welcomed locals in on Thursday 25th August and the store is now open seven days a week, from 7am until 10pm.
The store has been purpose built, with careful consideration to its surrounding environment – a pre-existing footpath has been further enhanced, and there’s a plan to develop the surrounding land into a green open space, in collaboration with local groups.
Inside, there’s eco-friendly air source heating, CO2 fridges with fridge doors to further conserve energy, a soft plastics recycling bin, and a station for free water refills.
As well as boasting a whole range of environmental features, the store will be encouraging locals to become members of Lincolnshire Co-op, giving them access to a range of benefits – from collecting dividend when they shop and enjoying a yearly bonus, to discounts and offers from local businesses and attractions. Junior members will also be able to collect free fruit.
Every time a member shops at the outlet, a donation will be made to a local good cause through the society’s Community Champions scheme. Until 3rd December, the store will be fundraising for Scunthorpe Samaritans.
Following previous Community Champions fundraising, St Barnabas School’s breakfast club will be receiving funding from the society.
Store Manager, Patrick Sutton, said: “We’ve been really pleased by the number of locals that have popped by already, many saying how excited they are to have us here in Barnetby!
“We’re all looking forward to serving the community, offering a wide range of products and great service, as well as supporting local good causes and charities.”
